The AGRI project on the agenda of discussions between the minister of economy and the ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Romania
The project of transport for natural gas from Azerbaijan to Europe – AGRI was one of the topics of discussion between the minister of economy, commerce and business environment Daniel Chitoiu, and the ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Romania Eldar Hasanov, at the meeting the two officials had recently. In this context, the Azerbaijani diplomat proposed the organization, in Bucharest, for the period to follow of a reunion of the ministers responsible for the domains of oil and natural gas from the countries member of AGRI in order to analyse the aspects that might delay the project.
According to a press release of the ministry of economy, the two officials analysed the issue of signing the contract with the British consultant Pensen Ltd., selected in March to achieve the feasility study, which is a priority for the Romanian party. The Azerbaijani representative requested the speeding up of this stage, which was delayed due to some technical matters, mentioned by the British company.
The Romanian minister of economy manifested his willingness and involvement in the process of developing the AGRI project, mentioning that during this period there is an evaluation of the stage of development of energy projects, including the one referring to gas trasport from Azerbaijan to Europe. Thus, at the end of May, the representatives of BP and the state Azerbaijani concernum SOCAR will be received by minister Chitoiu.
Another topic for the agenda referred to the future calendar of the process for the selection of various possibilities for the transport of natural gas to Europe from Azerbaijan ( the South-East European Pipeline SEEP, Nabucco West, TANAP). Romania through the facilities offered to investors ciykd becine a hub for the transit of oil in the process of development of the energy relations between Azerbaijan and the EU and the countries in the region.
At the same time, they agreed that this year will be organised the Vth session of the Joint Commission at government level of Azerbaijan and Romania for collaboration in commerce, economy, technology and science, the date to be announced later.
