Romania - Moldova gas interconnection project gets Gov't approval
The Government approved on Wednesday a draft resolution on the interconnection of Romania's and the Republic of Moldova's gas transmission systems, announced Prime Minister Victor Ponta.
'This is a project that had earned in-principle approval some time ago, it had been recurrently coming up in political talks, but there was no move towards implementation. Today we adopted the draft resolution approving the technical and economic indicators of the investment objective ‘Iasi (Romania) - Ungheni (Republic of Moldova) gas transmission interconnection pipeline,' Ponta said at the end of the government meeting.
Victor Ponta remarked that this was an older project, but 'each time the Romanian Government offered nothing more than nice words.'
According to Prime Minister Ponta, the interconnection pipeline is a strategic and political project that is crucial for the cooperation of the two states.
