Tourism: Top of travel agencies: Perfect Tour and Christian Tour, the biggest in Romania

Perfect Tour and Christian Tour have become the biggest agencies in Romania, with businesses of 206 million lei and 195 million lei in 2013, after being led by Happy Tour in the last 10 years. The latter dropped to 3rd position and had losses in the last two years.

 

With a business increase of 87%, Perfect Tour, owned by Corina Pacuraru, climbed to the first position from the 4th in the top of travel agencies, with a business figure of 206.4 million lei in 2013. It was helped by the 10 million euro/year contract ensuring travel services for OMV Petrom, which Perfect Tour won in 2013.

 

Sorin Vaduvoiu, the general manager of Perfect Tour says that 2013 was the best year recorded by the company since it was set up. The agency extended its portfolio of corporate customers and increased demand for trips to Disneyland Paris and for cruise ships.Perfect Tour had last year a net profit of 1.3 million lei compared to 1 million lei in 2012 and increased the number of employees from 153 to 163.

 

Christian Tour, the biggest Romanian tour operator had a 25% business increase last year climbing to the second position in the top. It is one of the most profitable agencies in Romania with a net profit of 4.3 million lei in 2013 against 3.1 million lei in 2012.Cristian Pandel, 38,the owner of Christian Tour, is the Romanian who owns the largest group of travel agencies in Romania, with cumulative business of over 221 million lei. Pandel bought Europa Travel agency in 2012 with which he had sales of 25.8 million lei. He also owns a package of shares at Bibi Touring Agency with business of 9.5 million lei in 2013. Christian Tour had 100 employees last year, compared to 96 in 2012.

 

Eximtour, the agency owned by Lucia Morariu, increased its business by 3 million lei but went down two positions to 4th. The agency had a net profit of 1.4 million lei, compared to 1.7 million in 2012 ans 130 employees (129 in 2012(.

 

Paralela 45, the agency owned by Alin Burcea and one of the best known brands in Romanian tourism, ended 2013 with a business figure of 157 million lei, ranking 5th in the top, with a net profit of 1.8 million lei, according to Mediafax.

 

The 6th position is held by the biggest online agency in Romania, Vola.ro, with sales of 107.4 million lei, over 15% higher than in the previous year. The company is owned by a Polish investment fund registered in Cyprus (66.6%) and by Daniel Truica (33.3%).The net profit of Vola.ro exceeded 843,000 lei, 2.2 times more than in 2012.

 

Hotel Air agency remained on 7th in last year’s classification, recording profits of 81.4 million lei, on the rise by 10%. The company, owned by the Greek businessman Ioannis Ioannidis, had a net profit of 1 million lei last year, compared to 846,000 lei in 2012.

 

Business Travel Tourism, held by Paula Elena Dobrescu, remained on the 8th positions after an increase of 5% of business to 70 million lei. The agency is one of the most profitable in Romania, with a net profit of 4.5 million lei in 2013 and of 3.4 million lei in 2012.

 

Mareea Agency, owned by Marius Usturoiu, is one of the biggest seller of domestic holidays in Romania and had profit of 67.5 million lei last year (5% increase) which ranks it 9th in the top.

Prompt Service, owned by Goicea family remained on 10th with profit of 61.6 million lei in 2013 against 63.8 million lei the previous year.

 

The top took into account the figures registered by agencies with the Finance Ministry.
