Healthcare: Private medical service market reached 570 million euro
The increase of private medical services in the Romanian market slowed down by 10-12% in 2013, reaching 570 million euro, with MedLife ranking first and Medicover second, after over passing Regina Maria, now on third position, according to Mihai Marcu, the president of MedLife.
MedLife had a business figure of 72 million euro, Medicover 45.9 million euro, Regina Maria 43.9 million euro and Sanador 32 million euro.
Of the market total of 570 million euro, 350 million euro represents the value of services discounted by the state and the rest are payments made by patients. The overall medical service market (private and state owned) exceeds 5.5 billion euro.
The funds paid by the National Health House are deficient and paid with big delays, MedLife shows.
At present, MedLife has 11 hyper clinics in Bucharest, Timisoara, Brasov, Arad, Galati and Iasi, 8 test labs, 6 hospitals in Bucharest, Brasov and Arad, of which a Pediatrics Hospital, an Orthopedics Hospital and an Obstetrics- Gynecology one, 3 maternity hospitals in Bucharest and in the country, 30 general medical centers, 9 excellence centers, 7 pharmacies under the brand PharmaLife Med and collaborated with 135 partner medical clinics throughout the country. The company estimates a business figure of over 80 million euro in 2014.
Medicover has 11 clinics in Bucharest, Cluj, Constanta, Iasi, Timisoara, Ploiesti, Brasov, a private Medicover hospital in the Capital and a network of suppliers in the whole country.
Regina Maria has 18 polyclinics (Bucharest, Cluj, Brasov, Constanta, Bacau) and over 140 partner polyclinics in the country, 5 hospitals in Bucharest and the country, 2 maternity hospitals, 3 medical campuses (Bucharest, Bacau, Brasov), 5 RMN, CT centers in Bcuharest, Brasov, and Bacau, Clinic Lab Division (Bucharest, Brasov, Bacau, Constanta) and the Central Stem Cell Bank.
The Sanador network includes 5 clinics, a lab and a private hospital in Bucharest.
