Suceava county could have an adventure park by 2015, after the minister for SMEs, business environment and tourism Maria Grapini visited on Friday the area and promised the support for such a project to draw the necessary financing.

Minister Grapini stated to the press that she supported the project regarding the construction of an adventure park in the Paltinoasa area. The initiative of building ‘Safari Park Adventure Bucovina’ belongs to the chairman of the PSD branch and the County Council Suceava, Ioan Catalin Nechifor. According to him, the adventure park would be installed on a surface of 96 ha, where the former military base in Paltinoasa functioned, at present the land belonging to the CJSuceava.

Maria Grapini stated that the financiang, according to her, could be ensured from European Funds, governmental funds as well as public-private partnership.

The CJSuceava chairman appreciated that the investment could reach approximately 20 – 30 million euro and thinks that the public-private partnership could be the best solution.

According to the chairman, the project of the future safari park has to include the 16 former armament warehouses of the former military base and inside there should be installed shops, cafes and restaurants as well as fish tanks. At the same time, there are plans for the building of a hotel, as well as camping spaces for the accommodation of different categories of tourists. There will be installed a Bucovina-like village, with traditional houses and an open-air museum, a play-ground for children, an amphitheatre and stage for different shows. The park will be equipped with ATVs, off-road motocycles. The park will include animals specific for the area, as well as other types of animals which could get used to the climate to be housed in adequate spaces which would observe the environment standards and animal protections laws.As there is a railway in the region, which at present is not used, it could be rehabilitated, so that in the park there would be a train to take the tourists from the entrance to the terminal point of the park.

Ioan Catalin Nechifor said that a protocol of collaboration should be signed with Romsilva for the management of the animals as well as of the forested area.
