Agriculture: Topoloveni jam to be promoted in Switzerland, Norway and Russia, until 2016
Topoloveni jam will be promoted in Switzerland, Norway and Russia, over a period of three years, ie from 2013 to 2016 after, on Tuesday, representatives of Sonimpex Co. and those of the Agency for Payments and Intervention in Agriculture ( APIA) have signed the financing contract from European funds worth 981,613 euros.
'After almost two years, today, July 30, the contract was finalized, for the promotion of Topoloveni jam in countries outside the European Community, respectively to Switzerland, Norway and Russia, due to the project of almost one million euros, approved by the European Commission (...) I think we succeeded to finalize a debt of honor, by the promotion to third countries of the healthiest sweet product. Our efforts, not just financial, to protect the only traditional Romanian product recognized by the EU, according to a protected geographical indication ( PGI), at OSIM, OHIM and recently at ASRO, by standardization recently completed last month, is a success ', general manager of Sonimpex, Bibiana Stanciulov, told AGERPRES.
She stressed that, from August 1, the first actions of promotion in Switzerland will start under the first project approved by EC for Romania for the markets in Norway, the Russian Federation and Switzerland, the jam going to be presented in the fairs, where people can taste it, but also in stores, with the help of samples. The Topoloveni jam will also benefit of advertising on these markets.
The European Commission approved for Romania, in April, a program to promote agricultural products in Switzerland, Norway and the Russian Federation, amounting to a total of approximately 4.2 million euros, of which the part to be supported by Romania is 981.613 euros. The program is run by the manufacturer of Topoloveni jam - SC Sonimpex Topoloveni Ltd, together with a consortium of producers in Greece.
Sonimpex Co. is the only Romanian producer in the field of processing and preservation of fruit without added sugar, no additives and no agents of conservation, having in its portfolio, in addition to the plum jam of Topoloveni, a range of jams without added sugar and no preservatives (eco blueberry, black cherries, sour cherries, strawberries, whole plums with almonds, quince, underbrush, artichoke etc.), but also a 'zacusca' from eggplants and a tomato paste.
The Topoloveni plum jam holds the PGI certification (protected geographical indication) in Europe since April 8, 2011, the first distinction of this kind received by a Romanian traditional product. Topoloveni natural plum jam is made according to a recipe kept ever since 1914. The product also holds the title of Supplier of the Royal House of Romania.
