The Romanians pay on average 1,300 lei to get a smartwatch, the sale of such gadgets being three times bigger in 2015 against the previous year, says a market analysis published by a retailer specialised on online sales.
‘Smartwatches get attention among the technology passionates and start to occupy an increased share in the sales of retailers in Romania. Only last year they meant an advance of 340% against the level recorded by Quick Mobile in 2014 and represented 10% of the business of the company’ says a press release of the online shop.
According to the market data, the Romanians pay, on average, 1,300 lei for smartwatches, the most popular being Apple Watch 42 mm, Samsung Gear S2 ?i Asus ZenWatch 2.All these devices have stainless steel covers and are waterproof and even dustproof. Depending on the total value of the orders for each model, Apple Watch is the leader, followed by Samsung Gear, Pebble, Moto 360 and MyKronoz.
Last year, the most expensive device sold on the online platform Quick Mobile was an Apple Watch Edition, the luxus variant, gold plated worth 79,999 lei.
As regards another sector of wearable devices, the fitness bracelets, they are in fashion this year, especially for the active ladies, interested in a healthy lifestyle, who train and check the calories they consume. The starting price is 100 lei, as in the case of fitness bracelets from Xiaomi but they can get up to 1,000 lei for a Fitbit device.
The Asian brands ranking for smartwatches is led, with Quick Mobile by Samsung, followed by Asus and Huawei.
QuickMobile started its activity 10 years ago, and starting 2015 extended on the international market by launching the online shop QuickMobileShop.com which delivers in the 28 countries of the European Union.
According to the analysis ‘ Journalism,Media andTechnology Predictions 2016’ made in February by the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism, the smartwatches market which constitute communication interfaces with mobile devices will extend this year by the introduction of numerous models for all the market niches, from the most performant to the cheapest ones which cover only some functions.
Apple watch sales on the first year since launching were modest, but encouraging, especially as there are studies which confirm the fact that many potential consumers wait that the technology reaches maturity before they buy a smartwatch.A recent survey shows the fact that 25% of the iOS users plan to buy a smartwatch in 2016.
