Infrastructure: Chiper: We want public-private partnership to rehabilitate Constanta - Mangalia route
Romanian authorities want a public-private partnership with funds of Juncker Plan to modernize Constanta - Mangalia route. Investments are estimated at 160 million euros, according to the Marius Chiper, CEO at CFR Infrastructure.
“We have a rough estimate of 160 million euros, but we do not have a feasibility study or a cost-benefit analysis to confirm the amount. It is just an overall estimate,” Chiper said.
The head of CFR SA explained that partners with economic potential, interested in exploiting the line are expected to join.
He referred to Danube bridges which are being repaired, and said the project will be completed in the fall.
“Rehabilitation works are under way at several Danube bridges and there are speed restrictions. This fall we will completely rehabilitate Danube bridges which are important and are about 2 km long each. When we finish conditions will improve. Time to cross the bridges will be reduced by at least 10 minutes,” Chiper pointed out.
