Production of mineral water will increase next year by 4.3%; the domestic consumption will be reduced by 0.85%
The production of mineral water from sources managed by the National Society of Mineral Waters will increase next year by 4.3% at 10.95 million hectolitres, while the domestic consumption will be slightly reduced by 0.85% at 468,000 hectolitres, according to the estimates from the SNAM strategy.
For this year, the estimated production of mineral water is 10.5 million hectolitres, up by 5.2% against 2015 and a consumption of 472,000 hectolitres up by 3.7%.
According to the SNAM strategy in 2018 the production of mineral water will have 11 million lei hl in 2019 – 11.5 million hl and in 2020 – 12.5 million hl and the domestic consumption 459,000 hl in 2018, 512,000 hl in 2019 and 528,000 in 2020.
SNAM explores on the basis of concession certificates, 32 areas for the extraction of mineral water and extraction of natural carbon dioxide used in liquefaction. At the same time, the society has 10 concession certificates for exploitation.
As for the reserves of natural mineral waters for consumption and spa uses which have been used by SNAM, there are only 40% which are put to value, with a 60% of them not yet put to value.
