Romania's automotive output decreased in the first seven months of this year by 8.2 percent to 231,206 units compared with the similar period of 2015, reads a release of the Association of Automotive Manufacturers and Importers (APIA) sent on Wednesday.
"As many as 29,932 vehicles were manufactured in July 2016, by 16.6 percent less than in the previous month, which takes the total production of vehicles over the first 7 months of the year to 231,206 units, ie 8.2 percent less than in the similar period of 2015. Of these, 205,466 were produced by Dacia and 25,740 by Ford. The Dacia Duster model accounts for the largest share, with 119,902 units (15 percent more than in the first seven months of 2015), followed by Sandero (36,050 units, 11 percent less than in 2015), Ford B-MAX (25,740 units, 15.6 percent less than in 2015), Dacia Logan MCV (25,562 units, + 2.8 percent) and Dacia Logan (23,952 units, 53.7 percent less compared to the same period of 2015)," reads the document.
Exports in the first seven months of 2016 dropped by 8.4 percent compared to the same period of 2015 to 209,050 units.
"The most exported model in the first seven months of 2016 was Dacia Duster (115,405 units), up by 15.7 percent from 2015, followed by Sandero (30,835 units - 15.2 percent), Ford B-MAX (25,737 units, - 15.6 percent), Logan MCV (23,274 units, - 1.3 percent) and Logan (13,799 units, - 63,9 percent). It is worth mentioning that 90.4 percent of the national automotive production of the first 7 months of 2016 went to export, a percentage similar to that of last year (90.7 percent)," APIA said.
Sales of cars from the domestic output dropped in the first seven months of 2016 by 7.9 percent compared to the same period of 2015, while sales of imported cars advanced 23.9 percent.
