Asking prices for housing in Romania’s largest cities dropped by an average 5.3% in the first half of this year compared to the end of 2009, according to data from property website imobiliare.ro. Thus, the average price for housing reached EUR1,163 per square meter in June, from EUR1,228sqm in December 2009, which shows owners are less willing to go lower this year. Prices of residential properties fell 3.9 pct in the first quarter of 2010 against the baseline year of 2009, reads a release of the National Statistics Institute (INS). The price decrease was noticeable for both property categories: ask prices for apartments dropped 3.8 percent in Q1 2010 y-o-y, while house prices also decreased 4.3 percent from the same reference.
