Only a third of Romanians to go on holiday this summer
Only a third of Romanians will go on holiday this summer, most of them to the Romanian seaside, a Thursday-released survey conducted by Inscop Research has found.Asked whether they would go on holiday this summer, 43.8% of the respondents gave a negative answer, 32.1% said they would do so and 19.7% were undecided.
Of the 32.1% who said they would go on holiday, 38.1% chose the Romanian seaside, 23.6% opted for a holiday abroad, and 21.2% said they would be spending their summer holiday at their relatives or friends' house.As many as 19.2% of respondents answered that they would go on holiday to the mountains in Romania and 3.5% chose to spend their holiday at home.
Of the 23.6% people who opted for a holiday abroad, 18.8% said they would go to Bulgaria, 15% - Spain, 13.8% - Italy, 12.5% - Greece and 10% - Turkey. The next destinations are Croatia and France, with 7.5% of Romanians' options, UK - 3.8%, Germany - 2.5%, Bahamas, Belgium, Malta, Montenegro, the USA and Hungary - each with 1.3% of Romanians' preferences as a holiday abroad.
As to their holiday budgets, 50.7% of respondents said that they had allocated between RON 1,000 and RON 3,000. As many as 26.3% of Romanians have at their disposal under RON 1,000 for the holiday, whilst 10.3% said that they had allocated between RON 3,000 and RON 5,000. Only 1.8% of Romanians have holiday budgets between RON 5,000 and RON 10,000, 0.9% have relevant budgets exceeding RON 10,000, whilst 10% of those surveyed did not know how to answer that question or did not answer it.
The survey was commissioned by the Adevarul daily and was carried out by Inscop Research May 28 - June 3, 2013. The sample included 1,055 people and is representative for the Romanian population aged 18 and over. The maximum allowed error of the data is ± 3%, at a confidence level of 95%.
