Health: Coltea Hospital becomes 4th unit in Romania for cell transplants
Coltea Hospital in Bucharest became the fourth health unit in Romania which performs cell transplants in December 2013, after the first stem sell transplant.Physicians from Coltea Hospital made the transplant to a 56 year-old patient for whom the procedure was standard treatment for multiple myeloma, the hospital manager Dr. Anca Lupu told Mediafax. The transplant was a success.
The Cell Transplant Department is part of the Hematology Clinic of Coltea Hospital and became functional in April 2013 by order of the health minister. The department was completed with municipality support. The hospital has 315 beds and its main profile is oncology. Over 40% of cases treated there come from other parts of the country.
