Cars: Over 171,000 new cars sold in Romania in first 11 months of 2018 (APIA)
The overall volume of new car sales was of 171,345 units over January-November 2018, on the rise by 20.4% compared to the same period of 2017, according to data published by APIA.
In this context, cars are purchased by companies (60%), although the number of cars bought by persons (58,107 units) went up by 41.1% compared to 2017.
According to data centralised by APIA, 145,208 of the 171,345 new vehicles delivered in 11 months were automobiles (+22.5% compared to 2017) and 26,137 commercial vehicles (10.1% vs 2017). Dacia continues to lead with 49,986 units, followed by Volkswagen (15,219), Renault (13,439), Ford (12,616) and Skoda (12,425).
In the case of automobiles, Dacia ranks first with 47,026 units (32.4% market share). It is followed by Volkswagen (13,636 units and 9.4% market share), Skoda (12,425 units and 8,6% of market), Renault (11,547 units and 8% share) and Ford (8,597 units and 5.9% market share).
At the same time, after 11 months, 2018, Dacia Logan has the largest volume of sales, 19.558 units, followed by Dacia Duster with 12,029 units, Dacia Sandero (9,440), Renault Clio (5,210) and Skoda Octavia (5,049).
According to the fuel type, the volume and share of Diesel cars grew (31.7% compared to 28.4%). In 11 months automobiles running on gasoline had a share of 61.9% of total, 10.4% more than of 51.5% in 2017.
APIA statistics show that overall sales reached 2.8%, compared to 2% in 2017 in the segment of electric and hybrid cars. 847 electric cars were sold, on the rise by 124.1% compared to 2017, while hybrid car sales grew by 60.1% to 3,169 units.
At general level, according to the country of origin, the situation is as follows: Romania (31.8% of total), Germany (18.4%), Czech Republic (10.5%), Turkey (8.9%) and Spain (7.5%).
In the case of second hand cars, APIA data show that in 11 months, 2018 434,914 units were sold, on the drop0 by 8.3% compared to the same period of the previous year.
