Cars: Business in the car and motorcycle trade drops
The business with cars and motorcycle sales dropped by 0.8% in the first 8 months and the business figure for services dropped by 3.7%.The drop of the business figure fir the trade, maintenance and repair of cars and motorcycles was determined by the drop registered for car maintenance and repair activities (-8.5%), trade with cars (-6.4%) and trade with motorcycles, parts and accessories, the maintenance and repair of motorcycles (-6.2%), shows a press release of the National Statistics Institute (INS).
Activities from the trade with parts and accessories for cars also registered increases (9.5%).
The activity of market services for the population registered a business figure 3.7% lower than in the same period of 2012, influenced by hair dressing and other beauty services (-20.2%), activities of travel agencies and tour operators (-11.5%) and those with gambling and other recreation activities (-5.3%).
Increases were registered for washing, cleaning and drying textiles and furs (5.6%) and activities of hotels and restaurants (0.3%). The activities of market services for the population, a series adjusted according to the number of working days and seasons, recorded a business figure of 3.3%.
Compared to July, businesses from the trade with cars and motorcycles dropped by 6.8% and compared to August 2012 it registered a drop of 0.9%.
