Vosganian: Main changes in new draft law on mines are about royalties and reopening of mines
The main alterations the new draft law on mines brings are aimed at royalties and reopening of the shut-down mines, given that investors from Russia, Poland and South Africa displayed interest in them, Economy Minister Varujan Vosganian told a news conference on nuclear energy, on Wednesday.
The draft law amending and completing the Law on Mines 85/2003 is one of the normative acts included on the agenda of the Government's Wednesday meeting.
The Law on Mines is at the first reading in the Government, today. It deals with royalties, redefinition of some terms, rescheduling and reopening of the shut-down mines. Investors from Russia, Poland, South Africa and Europe have shown interest in the mines. We haven't discussed yet whether we issue an Emergency Ordinance. The Government has lately hesitated, and it is right, to issue Emergency Ordinances,' Minister Vosganian said.
