Since the beginning of the year, Romania recorded 84 accidental pollution cases, with a peak in October. Romania's electricity output over January 1-September 30, 2006 stood at 45.65 billion kWh, up 3.6 percent compared to the amount produced in the corresponding period one year ago (1.63 billion kWh), according to figures supplied by the National Statistics Institute (INS). The European Union norms stipulate that Romania should produce in 2007 at least 100,000 tonnes of bio-fuel, and until 2010 the output should exceed 300,000 tonnes of bio-fuel.
