Wine-growing sector in Romania has attracted 42 million euros of European funds in past five years

The wine sector in Romania has accessed the European funds in full in the past five years, through the 'Support for the wine sector', ie 42 million euros, the most visible aspect of the program consisting of replanting about 19,700 hectares with noble vine varieties, announced on Monday the Agriculture Minister Daniel Constantin in the opening of the 36th Congress of Vine and Wine.

This program will continue in Romania until 2018, the Minister said. He stressed that Romania currently has over 100 old native varieties, such as Feteasca Neagra, Grasa de Cotnari, Francusa, Busuioaca, Tamaioasa Romaneasca, many of them with absolutely outstanding qualities, recognized on the occasion of international competitions in the field.

'' We are very happy that the Congress is held here, turning Bucharest into the world capital of wine. It will enable producers, particularly from Romania, to present such famous wines to the experts present here, from five continents ', the Minister added.

Complementary to the scientific papers, the new CEO of the International Organization of Vine and Wine is to be designated at this congress.

'In the coming days you will have the opportunity to visit wineries and vineyards in Romania and rural areas in the country. I invite you not to hesitate to discover Romania, its hospitality and people's openness, both during the congress, as well as during post-congress visits and, in particular, to relish and appreciate the Romanian wines ', Daniel Constantin concluded.
