Construction of bridge over Danube, between Braila and Galati, to be state-guaranteed, says PM
The Government will provide state guarantees for the construction of the much-debated bridge across the Danube located between Braila and Galati, which will link to Tulcea County (south-east of the country), said on Tuesday, in Braila, Premier Victor Ponta.
'I discussed with the Ministry of Public Finance, to include this project in the guarantee program, with sovereign guarantees. This means that the bridge is made, including with funding. When you have a state guarantee, funding is found more easily. At the moment, Romania is a country that finds and easily access loans. Everyone wants to lend us, at very good interest. We can not access all the money made available to us, because we must keep our deficit targets. Yes, we will give a guarantee to a truly strategic project, such as the bridge is', Ponta said.
The Prime Minister congratulated the representatives of local authorities of the counties of Braila, Galati and Tulcea, because they let their egos aside and agreed where the bridge will be located.
