Tourism : Western Romania tourist sites promoted by Traveler Across Bihor project

Arranged caves, heritage churches and traditional craft objects are being promoted by the County Council of Bihor (western Romania) by means of the tourist project dubbed Traveler Across Bihor that was completed on Thursday.

The project aims to capitalise on the Bihor tourist potential and draw the tourists to the county by a unified presentation of the diverse tourist offer at home and on the Internet, by various products and road-shows.

According to the project manager Aurelia Dumiter, the project conducted over March 2011- March 2013 was aimed at the promotion of 22 tourist products specific of Bihor county, that were grouped on four priority axes: arranged caves (the caves of Meziad, Vadu Crisului, Unguru Mare, Cetatile Radesei, Galaseni), cave-like landscapes (Valea 'Valley' Iadului, Valea Sighistelului, Valea Videi, Valea Rosia, Valea Finisului, Vascau-Calugari Plateau); wood and masonry churches (the wood churches of Sebis, Bradet, Josani, Pestis, Beznea and the masonry churches of Abram, Voivozi, Homorog) and traditional crafts (white pottery, the trumpet violin and the dowry case).

The project resulted in promotion materials (an album, brochures, postcards, a pocket map, a CD, a DVD and television advertising spot), the www.calatorprinbihor.ro website, three campaigns for the promotion of the tourist resources specific of Bihor in 11 towns across Romania and the participation in the Romanian Tourism Fair from last November.

The indirect beneficiaries of this project will be the Bihor tourist units as well as the local public administrations and the locals from the tourist areas promoted under the project.

The project was approved for funding under the Regional Operational Programme 2007-2013, with its value totalling 364,147. 55 lei. (1 euro=4.5 lei).
