Tourism: Romanian tourists can choose all inclusive Danube cruises
A Swiss and a Romanian company will organize, as of this month, 7 night cruises on the Danube for Romanian tourists, an all inclusive package being sold for 360 euros/person.
A Swiss company and the Romanian tour operator Karpaten Outgoing rented a ship which can accommodate 260 for cruises of 7 nights on the Danube for Romanian tourists. The first cruise will be on May 9 and the last on September 12.
“Such cruises have been available for foreigners since the 1970s. Over 120,000 foreigners come to Romania by Danube cruises, but the product was not sold to Romanian tourists. We think the Romanian market is ready for such trips,”said Alexandru marginean, the director of Karpaten Outgoing.
The ship was completely renovated in 2003 and all cabins are exterior ones, distributed on four decks. Cabins have their own bathrooms, air conditioning, heating and sound systems. All cabins, except for those on lower deck, have balconies.
The ship also has two panoramic restaurants, a lunge, salon, bar, reception desk, shop, hairdresser’s, and a higher deck with relaxation area.
The cruise begins in Fetesti, where tourists are taken by coach from Bucharest. The ship leaves at night on the Danube, through the Danube Delta, to Sfantu Gheorghe and the Black Sea, where it stops the next day for optional trips by fishing boats on the narrow Delta canals.
The next the ship reaches Mila 35, from where they can go on trips by hydro buses to Sulina canal at Km 0 where the Danube flows into the Black Sea. In Sulina tourists can spend time on the beach or take walks.
The next stop, on the 4th day, is in Tulcea where optional trips are organized to the Danube Delta Museum and on the Saun Lake. There is a festive dinner in the evening aboard the ship.
On the 5th day the ship leaves for the Danube Delta in Ukraine and Vilkowo. An optional tour of the town and a trip by hydro buses to the Black Sea coast are organized. The next day the ship reaches Izmail, where tourists can have optional trips like tour of the city and a visit to Pokrovski Cathedral.
On the 7th day the ship returns to Fetesti where trips can be made to Constanta and Mamaia. In Constanta there is a tour of the city and a visit to the National Archaeological and History Museum. Tourists also have leisure time on the beach at Mamaia. In the evening tourists return to the ship and the next day they are transferred to coaches and taken to Bucharest.
“Children travel free and a package of 7 optional trips for an adult is 99 euros/person,” said Marginean.
Karpaten Outgoing is part of the Karpaten group, owned by Gheorghe Marginean, which brings the highest number of tourists to Romania.
