Tourism : In the period 1.I-30.IX.2015, non-resident tourists arrived in Romania spent on average 2489.5 lei/per person

 • In Quarter III 2015, the total number of non-residents in collective tourist accommodations was 778.1 thousand and their expenditure amounted per total to 1775.8 million lei.

In the period 1.I-30.IX.2015, the total number of non-resident tourists in collective tourist accommodations was 1753.4 thousand and their expenditure amounted per total to 4365.1 million lei.

The number of foreign tourists who have checked in in collective tourist structures from January to September 2015 reached 1.75 million, and their expenditure raised to 4.36 billion lei, according to data released on Tuesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS). 

"The main reason of their arrivals was business, their participation in congresses, conventions, fairs, exhibitions (55.4pct), their expenses going up to 60.8pct of the total," the INS informs. 

A second reason of the foreign tourists' checking-in was private voyages (44.6pct), in particular for holidays (61.8pct). Travels in private purpose include holidays, shopping, cultural and sports events, visits to friends and relatives, medical treatment, religious events, transit and other activities. 

"Out of the total amount of the business expenditure, the largest weight counts for accommodation (53.9pct), where B&B is most preferred (90.7pct), followed by spending in restaurants and bars 16.6pct, and for shopping 12.6pct, car rentals 61.2pct out of total spending for transportation," the INS release adds. 

The third quarter of 2015 counted for 778,100 foreign tourists who have spent 1.77 billion lei.
