Telecom.IT: Over 5.9 mln Romanians use Internet daily; online games dominate Web surfers' preferences
Over 5.9 million Romanians use the Internet daily, a percentage of 61.6% of the total population of the country respectively, and the trend is of constant increase, according to a Survey of Audience and Internet Traffic (SATI), conducted by the Romanian Audit Bureau Transmedia (BRAT) .
'As to the purpose of the daily use of the Internet, the data released by BRAT show a decrease in Romanians' interest in news, as well as in the automotive and sports information, but a growing interest in the online gaming and entertainment. A contributing factor to this trend is also the fact that the survey included the winter holidays season,' reads the cited survey.
Regarding the intention to buy goods and services in the measured period, standing out there is a decreasing intention to buy mobile phones and mobile phone services, as well as a lower intention to buy cable-TV, insurance and credit services.
On the other hand, the survey found an increasing intention to buy travel services. It is estimated that this trend is due also to the reference period of the survey.
Published within the survey were the audience results for 154 websites, collected from December 1, 2013 to February 28, 2014.
BRAT is the organization of the media industry in Romania that measures the audience of the print media and the online environment, audits circulation (print media) and monitors investments in advertising (print, online media, radio and outdoor).
