Real estate: Real estate investments of 408 million euros in Romania in first semester
The first half of the year ended with real estate investments of 408 million euros in Romania, 18% more than in the same period of 2019. Of them transactions for offices represented 86%, according to the market report of Colliers International. Some major transactions which exceed 100 million euros were postponed or canceled, the report shows.
However, prospects are uncertain, as several major transactions were frozen or canceled. On the other hand, the land market continues to record transactions and a significant interest, company representatives say.
However, 2020 was expected to be the best post crisis year for real estate investments in Romania, Collier International experts say, but the pandemic slowed down performance in the first half of the year. At the same time, several big transactions which exceed 100 million euros, were delayed or even canceled in the present context.
On the overall, 2020 may seem a slow year, with volumes between 600 and 700 million euros, which depend mostly on the moment and way in which delayed or canceled transactions resume. Some opportunistic transactions may appear, some sellers or companies may face problems and may be interested in immediate sales to access short term liquidity, they added.
