One third of the households of Romania owned a vehicle in 2014
Approximately one third of the households of Romania owned a vehicle in 2014, the National Institute of Statistics (INS) informs.
There is a car in 58.1 percent of the homes with employees, and 52.2pct of those with self-employed (including employers). At the opposite side, only 16.3pct of the households of unemployed own a car.
"Out of the durables, cars are mainly the goods that cannot be purchased easily because of their high price. So 60.8pct of the unemployed homes cannot afford a car, nor can 54.5pct of the households ran by farmers," the INS written answer details.
According to data released by the Automotive Manufacturers and Importers Association (APIA), the car sales grew in Romania in the first eight months of 2015 by 16.8pct, to 75,288 units, as compared to the similar period of 2014. This trend is further supported by the corporate and institutional, which account for 74pct of the total.
