Low cost air companies contributed to increase of foreign tourists in Romania

Low cost air companies have contributed to the increase of the number of foreign tourists in Romania because of the low prices practised. Moreover there is a tendency of developing weekend tourism at least on weekends.

Lucian Boronea, general manager of Accent Travel agency says he has noticed an opening of low cost companies to promoting Bucharest.

It is a mistake of line companies which do not see that Bucharest is growing as a tourist destination. Blue Air, Wizz Air and Ryanair want joint campaigns promoting Bucharest. Representatives of low cost companies said they would participate to the budget promoting the Capital because they believed in this destination. The fact that Ryanair has an operation base in Bucharest with three air planes is just the beginning, said the general manager of Accent Travel.

Last year the largest low cost company according to the number of passengers was Wizz Air, the Hungarian company which transports 4.5 million passengers on routes from and to Romania. Jozsef Varadi, CEO and founder of Wizz Air estimated recently that in five years from now his company will have 9-10 million passengers in Romania.
