Infrastructure: Airport Henri Coanda, 43rd in the EU according to the passengers traffic in 2014
The international airport Henry Coanda Bucuresti was situated last year 43rd in the EU after the number of passengers who transit it annually, show the data presented on Wednesday by the European Office for Statistics (Eurostat). The biggest airport in Romania served 8,26 million passengers in 2014 going up by 8.9% against 2013. Out of these, 6,4 million passengers arrived or left to destinations in the EU, 1.4 million with international destinations outside EU and 497,000 passengers represent domestic destinations.
In 2014, the biggest airport in the EU was Heathrow London with traffic of 73.4 million passengers up by 1.4% against 2013.Next are Charles de Gaule (63.7 million passengers), Frankfurt –Main (59.4 million passengers), Schiphol Amsterdam (55 million passengers) and Barajas Madrid (41.5 million passengers).
According to the Eurostat, 879.4 million passengers travelled last year by plane in the EU, and advance of 4.4% as compared to 2013.All member states of the EU reported the increase of the number of passengers.
The biggest number of people who travelled in 2014 by plane was recorded in the UK (220 million, up by 4.5% against 2013), Germany (186 million,up by 3.1%),Spain (165 million up by 4.8%), France (142 million up by 2.6%) and Italy (121 million up by 5.3).
In Romania, approximately 10.9 million passengers travelled by plane in 2014, up by 8.9% against 2013. Out of these, 8.86 million passengers arrived or left from/to destinations in the EU, 1.54 million to international destinations outside the EU and 502,000 passengers represent domestic flights.
Aktor –Euro Construct will finalise the Bucuresti-Ploiesti highway for 130 million lei
The Company for Highways and National Roads (CNADNR) allocated to Aktor-Euro Construct Trading ’98 a contract of 129.18 million lei without VAT for the finalisation of the first 3.3km from the Bucuresti-Ploiesti highway and the road junctions over the Bucuresti Ringroad and that at Moara Vlasiei.
The duration of the contract is of 70 months out of which 4 months is the period for drafting, 18 months execution time and 48 months the guarantee period, CNADNR says in a press release.
‘At present, the public procurement procedure includes the possible appeal period’ the press release says.
The public procurement procedure for the allocation of the public procurement contract ‘ The drafting and execution, finalisation of the Bucuresti-Brasov highway, the Bucuresti-Ploiesti sector, km 0+000 + km 3+325; Nod Centura Bucure?ti, km 6+500 ?i Nod Moara Vl?siei, km 19+500" was started on 19 May.
A sector of 6.5km between Petricani Road in Bucharest and the Bucuresti ringroad is not open to circulation. CNADNR annulled the contract with the Italians from Pizzarotti who built 3.2 km out of the 6.5 with a rest of 3.3km of the highway.The 56 km of highway between the Bucuresti Ringroad and Ploiesti were opened to traffic 3 years ago.
