Iasi, 12th in a world top made according the number of retailers newly-entered on the market
Iasi is the 12th out of 208 cities in a world top made according to the number of retailers newly-entered on the market last year by the company of real state consultancy CBRE, performance recorded as the commercial centre Palas – with a surface of 55,000 square metres - was opened.
According to CBRE, last year in Iasi there were opened 19 new branches, out of 320 retailers analysed in the report How Global is the Business of Retail ? Among the retailers who entered Iasi for the first time in 2012 there is C&A, H&M and New Yorker.
The mature markets dominate expansions plans of the retailers during the last year, but six emerging markets is positioned in Top20. Out of six, Iasi is third, after Kiev (39 new entries) and Sao Paolo (25 entries) and before the capital of the state of Oman, Muscat (17) and Ho si Min ( Vietnam – 15).
Iasi is 6th in the world and after the number of retailers in the domain of fashion which aims at the middle class related to income. Most retailers of this kind opened their shops in Hong Kong, Kiev, London, Toronto and Singapore, Nanjing, Berlin, Dubai and New York are on a par with Iasi.
At world level Hong Kong recorded the best performance last year, a number of 51 retailers opening new shops in the Asian city. Second is Kiev, third is Berlin (28)this being followed by Singapore (25), Dubai (25), Sao Paolo (25), Paris, Tokyo, London, New York and Frankfurt. Iasi managed to draw the same number of retailers as Warsaw, Hamburg and Munich.
Palas Iasi developed by Iulius Group owned by the business man Iulian Dascalu was opened one year ago. “The retailers extended in a high number on markets in 2012, thus 81% of the analysed cities had a new retailer last year” the report says. The American brands were by far the most aggressive last year, they focussed on the markets in Asia and Western Europe as well as in the Middle East, Central Europe and Eastern Euerope and Latin America.
At the same time, the Italian, British and French retailers were active, especially on the domestic markets as well as in Asia.
The analysis on regions shows that Europe was the most wanted by retailers last year, almost half of the brands having new entries in European countries.
