Ford produced under 31,000 B-Max in Craiova in 2012 due to the low demand in Europe
Ford produced in Craiova last year 30,217 B-Max almost 30% less than they announced initially, due to the reduced demand on the European market, touched by the profound recession, the officials of the company say. The production of cars is one shift, but it grows slowly, slowly. Last year they produced almost 27,000 EcoBoost engines, and the first part of this year they should start the production of the engine of 1.5 l, gasoline.
By the end of last year, Ford produced in Craiova exactly 30,217 B-Max. Taking into consideration that the production started at the end of June, the monthly average for the production was almost 5,000 units.The 1.0 litre EcoBoost engine had a lower production cadence, of almost 27,000 units accentuated at the end of the year, when they introduced another shift in the engine factory.
The company says that, in Europe, the crisis had an impact last year. By 31 December 2012 Ford Romania produced 30,217 units of B-Max and 26,991 of units of EcoBoost of 1,0 litre engines. These production volumes were motivated mainly by the reduced demand on the part of the consumers in Europe, as a result of the profound recession recorded in several countries, so that the production of cars without having demands on the part of the clients was not feasable.
The Ford producer increases, discretely the production rhythm in Craiova. After the reduction of the production at the end of 2012, when they reached 250 cars per day, from 550 as they produced previously, at present Ford increased the rhythm to 360 of cars fabricated daily.The production rhythm is, in other words, of 48 -50 cars per hour, which means, approximately, a car per minute.
The engine of 1,5 litre on gasoline will start production in Craiova ‘ the first part of the year’ the representatives of the company say, without giving details regarding the month when they start production. This second engine was expected last year, when the production was stopped in the section of engines to install a new line of production for the engine of 1,5 litre. Some voices consider that there are a series of technical problems with the assembly line.
