Demand for "Seaside for Everyone" programme up 140pct due to holiday tickets
The demand for sojourns that are part of the programme "Seaside for Everyone" carried out in September is higher by 140 per cent this year compared with last year, due to the holiday tickets, with the number of tourists increasing 2.5 folds, Lucia Morariu, head of one of the tour operators members of the National Association of Tour Operations (ANAT) said.
"The holiday tickets are, of course, the main factor that generated the growth in the number of seaside sojourns sold for September. The average price spent by a tourist increased by 431 lei in 2018 compared with 380 lei last year. Many tourists chose to postpone their seaside summer holiday until September, for various reasons. Some of them might want a seaside sojourn, but they do not bear the high temperatures during peak season, some want to benefit from the more affordable prices, so that they will be able to afford both a seaside and a mountain sojourn, for instance, while others were just not able to find available rooms in their preferred hotels," specified Lucia Morariu, who is founding co-chair of Eximtur.
"And it's not just the seaside that benefits from more attractive prices in September, but also the mountain resorts or the spa resorts, which practice an average 10 per cent cut in September for their services. Moreover, since this is still a warm period of the year, those who choose to go to the mountain or spa resorts will still have the possibility to enjoy their optional one-day trips that come with the sojourns," said Lucia Morariu.
