Giurgiu - Ruse gas pipeline, crossing under the Danube, is to be completed by the end of 2013, this construction going to be part of Nabucco pipeline, the Secretary of State in the Ministry of Economy, Rodin Traicu, announced at the end of 2012.
'Referring to Giurgiu - Ruse pipeline, in case of trouble, and Bulgaria no longer receives gas via the pipelines from the Russian Federation, our system must be able to supply gas to the Bulgarian system under fault. If a fault happens to our system, we can instantly receive gas from their system. We discussed this at the last Romanian-Bulgarian joint commission of cooperation. Giurgiu - Ruse will be part of Nabucco. For now, the Bulgarian side is facing legislation issues referring to underneath river crossing', Rodin Traicu also said.
Total estimated value of the project (with values eligible for EU co-financing) is 23.82 million euros, of which Transgaz -10.09 million euros and Bulgartransgaz E.A.D. - 13.72 million euros.
