RWEA:Fewer than 1pct of Romania's wind turbines are used
Fewer than 1pct of Romania's wind turbines are used, namely 20 MW of 2976,8 MW installed on July 1, 2015, according to the Romanian Wind Energy Association (RWEA) data.
According to the RWEA, the average capacity of a turbine in in Romania is 2.5 MW and thus the association estimates that there are almost 1,200 wind turbines nationwide. The market value of a new turbine depends on several parameters, the number of turbines purchased by an investor and the maintenance agreements signed with the producer respectively. The association's representatives say that, in principle, one can calculate a value of 1 million euros per MW.
"In Romania there are 20 MW installed with used turbines, which were mounted until 2010, in the first years of wind industry. All the other turbines are new, with the highest technical parameters possible. Due to the fresh fleet of turbines, the relevant industry of Romania is among the top ones in terms of technology. The main producers present in Romania are Vestas, General Electric, Siemens, Gamesa, Nordex and Enercon," said the RWEA representatives.
The RWEA informs that, when low-power turbines are dismounted, these are replaced, in most cases, with higher power turbines.
