President Basescu wants Romania to be a regional hub for ExxonMobil and OMV-Petrom in the Black Sea area
Romanian President Traian Basescu on Wednesday welcomed at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace a delegation from consortium made of US-based ExxonMobil and OMV-Petrom companies, occasion on which he suggested Romania may become a regional hub for the operations of these two companies in the Black Sea area,' operations in the Black Sea Area.
According to a press release of the Presidential Administration, the delegation received by the head of state was led by the Executive Vice Chairman of Exxon Mobil Exploration Company, Johnny L. Hall and Petrom CEO, Mariana Gheorghe.
'During the meeting, President Basescu was informed about the current stage of the projects developed by the two companies and about their future plans within the consortium they established with a view to managing together the offshore exploration of hydrocarbon reserves in the Black Sea,' said the abovementioned release.
The representatives of the two companies have spoken of the importance of the project in Neptun (southeastern Romania) and voiced confidence they will obtain very good results there.
'Considering the projects ExxonMobil and OMV carry out together in the Black Sea area, Mr. President Traian Basescu suggested to Mr. Johnny L. Hall to take into account the possibility Romania to become a regional hub for the operations of ExxonMobil and OMV-Petrom in the Bleack Sea area,' said the release.
