PM wants mining law currently ‘being moved from one ministry to another' to reach Gov't sitting
Prime Minister Victor Ponta on Wednesday told Economy Minister Varujan Vosganian to show the final form of the draft mining law at the Government's sitting next week, as he said the draft act 'is being moved from one ministry to another' without having obtained all the required approvals.
'There are two important issues - (the first one is) the draft mining law initiated by Minister Vosganian. I think there has been a month or two since it is being moved from one ministry to another. I want it to be showed at the Government's sitting next week and to send it to the Parliament. /.../ It is a very important draft law and we sit and wait because the clerks fail to issue the assent in some ministry or another', Ponta said in the beginning of the executive's weekly meeting.
Secondly, the prime minister spoke about the Law on the return of the property seized by the former communist rule, for which the Government got a vote of confidence from the Parliament in April. He underscored the law was accepted by the Constitutional Court and the European Court of Human Rights too, but the norms for its enforcement are lying ‘at the ministries'.
Ponta said the topic should be on the next week's sitting agenda. 'If there is anybody who has not yet issued an assent, they will issue it during the sitting. We are still working at very low speeds', he added.
The Romanian head of Government paid an official visit to Germany on Monday and Tuesday, during which he met Chancellor Angela Merkel and several German investors, who complained of the Romanian red-tape, among others.
