HIDROELECTRICA WANTS TO SELL 33 SMALL HYDROPOWER PLANTS
Hidroelectrica will hold an auction in February for the sale of 33 out of the 128 small hydropower units it has, at a starting price of 84.7 million lei (18.8 million euros), according to the administrator of its insolvency.
“In February we will put up for sale a new batch of 33 small hydropower plants. We want to keep 23 small hydro and refurbish them”, said for Mediafax the lawyer Remus Borza, head of Euro Insol, the receiver of hydropower producer.
Small hydropower generation are capacities on renewable sources that have an installed capacity of up to 10 MW and are beneficiaries of green certificate support scheme. The 33 units on sale in February have a cumulative installed capacity of 26 MW and are located in Suceava, Bac?u, Neam?, Hunedoara, Maramure?, Bra?ov, Arad, Sibiu, Arge?, Buz?u, Vâlcea and Timi? Counties.
“Generally, we have to wait two months between the announcement and the tender per se for interested investors must have time to do their due diligence, which implies going to see the capacities. We wait for good weather”, said Remus Borza .
The latest sale of this type was conducted in September 2014, when Hidroelectrica sold several units, Borza said. Hidroelectrica owns 128 small hydropower units with an installed capacity of up to 4 MW each.
