Energy Ministry pays $ 47,501, Romania’s contribution to IRENA in 2015

The Ministry of Energy pays $ 47,501 to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA)as Romania’s contribution for 2015, according to a draft emergency order of the government posted on the ministry website.

“The IRENA budget is established by the IRENA assembly, which according to the statute is the body which adopts in ordinary sessions, the budget and activity program of the agency and has the authority to decide on amendments to Agency budget. The Agency budget and the contribution to member states can vary from one year to another, according to Agency demands and the agreement of IRENA Assembly. Assembly members also approve the grid of IRENA contributions for every year which exposes the estimated contribution of each member. The calculations is based on the Evaluation scale for expense allocation established by the Resolution 64/248 of December 24, 2009 of the UN General Assembly. For 2015 Romania’s contribution to IRENA is $ 47,501”. IRENA is an international intergovernmental organization which promotes the development of the use of renewable resources at world level, by supporting promotion policies, exchange of experience and technology in the field.

Romania is a founding member of IRENA since 2009, considering that by joining this organization it can actively participate in global effort of de-carbonization and fighting climate changes. At present IRENA has 139 members, other 32 states preparing to become members.
