Consolidating Moldova and Ukraine's energy security is a priority with Romania in the context of regional promotion of energy security policies, ambassador Mihnea Constantinescu, special representative of Romania's Government for energy security, said Friday. 

"Contributing toward the consolidation of Moldova's energy security is a priority with Romania and so is joining the contributions of the other European Union member states toward preserving Ukraine in an area of energy security and stability associated with the European Union priorities. Let us remember that both Moldova and Ukraine have pledged their status to the Energy Community Treaty, which in one way or another is designed to promote a common legislative package for European Union's cooperation partners to promote energy security policies," Comanescu told a launch conference of Aspen Energy Lab. 

He added that from that perspective, Romania's energy relations with the two countries remain a priority. 

"Getting Ukraine and Moldova's authorities engaged with the other European Union partners in the energy area is a continual presence in our conversation on energy diplomacy. If Moldova is today on the European Union's map in terms of energy issues, I believe that is also the outcome of Romania's past and present contribution toward this project," added Constantinescu.
