Trade: Romanians exceed the British, Belgians and Russians when buying smart phones online
Romanians are the first in buying smart phones on the Internet, after being informed online, exceeding the British, Belgians and Russians, according to a GfK study made in the four markets, but the buying process lasts less - about 15 days.
Over 55% of Romanians who seek information about smart phones on the Internet make the purchase online, after visiting about 8 sites on which they spend 7.8 minutes each, a GfK press release shows.
They are followed by the British, who buy the product online (42.5%), after visiting 9 sites and spend 7.7 minutes on each site. Belgians analyze data on 21 sites where they spend 2.5 minutes (each) but less than 32% buy online.
The Russians are at the opposite pole concerning Internet purchases, only 19% using that method. They look for information on 7 sites with 3.4 minutes devoted to each site.“Buyers from Great Britain and Romania have a similar behaviour, they spend more time on fewer sites, while Belgians take into consideration more sites than buyers from the other three markets because they are interested in finding the best price, while for the Russians the online information process is less intense and varied,” GfK researchers show.
On the other hand, the Romanians have the lowest online data search percentage for the purchase of smart phones, only 77% compared to 86% for the British, 92% for the Belgians and 95% for the Russians.
Those who want to buy smart phones get informed online but buy from offline stores because they feel the need to tough, test and verify the information found on sites and also because of the distrust in electronic payment and in order to avoid delivery cost and time.
The time devoted to online information varies from 24 minutes in the Russians’ case to 52 minutes for Belgians, 63 minutes for Romanians and 70 minutes for British, searches being extended to several days. The effective purchase is made more rapidly with the Romanians (in 15 days) and lasts the most with the British, who allocate 41 days until buying the product.
