Trade : Apple sells only 6% of smart phone in Romania but gets 20% of the money
The American company Apple, which sells in Romania about 6% of the total number of smart phones collects about 20% of overall expenses with the Romanians’ smart phones, according to a market study made by ZF.
According to the study made in the first 11 months of 2015, Apple sells in Romania 6% of smart phones, as many as Samsung sells in a month in top seasons.
About a million out of the 2.6 million smart phones sold in Romania over January-November 2015, were delivered by Samsung.
Having a restrictive portfolio in the premium segment, Apple sold 150,000 iPhones for 100 million euros in Romania in the mentioned period of time.
The South Korean giant Samsung obtained about 46% of the amounts spent by Romanians for smart phones (about 230 million euros), selling over one million smart terminals, that is 40% of the overall market.
According to ZF, the difference comes from the different structure of telephone portfolios of the two companies, especially from the high share of low priced Samsung phones.
