Survey: local B2B e-commerce will remain on an upward trend in 2016

The local B2B e-commerce will remain on an upward trend in 2016 and will reach 12 billion euros, by 20pct more than in last year, according to a survey conducted by an e-commerce platform and issued on Monday.

Currently, IT&C, both in terms of hardware as well as in terms of software, household appliances, auto, home & deco sectors, fashion and the products related to agriculture have the largest share in the B2B e-commerce in Romania, with the last two areas having recorded an accelerated growth, according to the survey conducted by the Teamshare platform.

According to the survey, at present, increasingly more local B2B websites use integrated platforms, with ERP and marketplaces, with online payment systems and courier firms, convinced of the opportunities offered by online retail, which is increasing at a faster rate than offline retail, but also of need for process automation and cutting order operating costs. Thus, compared to last year when 10pct of all the players in the B2B e-commerce were using integrated platforms, their number is to reach 20pct in 2016.

An integrated e-commerce platform targets mainly B2B companies operating in production and distribution, with many partners, a high volume of orders and multiple operations, which need optimization and synchronization of all these processes. According to the survey, a relevant company that resorts to such a solution can increase its sales by 15pct to 25pct in a few months, while order-processing costs would be cut by some 30pct.
