Tourism: The majority of the Romanians prefer holidays for relaxation

 

The Romanian tourists are no longer interested in all-inclusive packages for luxurious and closed destinations, the majority (31%) as they preferred the relaxation vacations, followed by the ones with benefits for health (17%) and sunny holidays (12%) a study made by PayPal and GFK recently shows. The Romanians prefer mainly to stay in a hotel (40%) but rented apartments (23%) and friends’ flats (12%) are as well in the top of the preferences, the quoted study shows.

The Romanians go on holiday for two weeks (over 36% of the interviewees spend on average 14 days of holiday per year)half of them have for holidays over 500 euro.

When it comes to the choice of the place for spending the holiday, the most important factor continues to be price (85%) and the recommendations on the internet (67%).At the same time, Wi-Fi connection is the most important factor for choosing the accommodation place for over 59% of the Romanians.

Access to email, the social networks and other online services is more important then the facilities for the families (57%) or the distance to the centre of the city (53%).Tourists like to have to possibility to pay in a variety of ways (55%).Although cash is preferred on holidays, online payments get popularity 8% of the Romanians use PayPal for the coverage of diverse expenditure and (8%)for accommodation (8%).

The internet is an important instrument for Romanian tourists, 38% consider it is of crucial importance for the planning of the holidays while 42% use it during the holiday or trip. Romanian tourists use the internet both for finding holidays offers at best prices, and for information detailed referring to the vacation destination (average prices, which are the recommended restaurants, which are tourist attractions, customs regulations and data concerning the visas).Online channels are more popular as information sources than offline ones and only 18% find offers and 20% detailed information through the means of a consultant in tourism or by phone, while 45% and 28% use the web pages of the tourism agencies or their profiles on the socialising networks.

According to the study, many Romanians still prepare for the holiday, as only 32% have already had their holiday, 19% wait for the reductions for the September holidays and an important group intend to have their holiday in October –December (10%).

The most popular way of travel is by car, chosen by 63% of the tourists, while flight is preferred by 17% of the travellers. The Romanians choose their airlines and flights mainly depending on the price (94%) , luggage policy (83%) and destination offer (76%). A very important factor is represented by discounts and other promotions which are the reason for the acquisition for 9% of the Romanians.
