Tourism : Statistics: tourist accommodation units in Romania amounted to 6,130 on July 31
The number of tourist accommodation units in Romania amounted to 6,130 on July 31, 2014, up 2 percent (121 units) compared to the same period of 2013, when tourist facilities stood at 6,009 units, according to data released on Monday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
Over the aforementioned interval, the number of hotels rose by 28 up to 1,473 units, the number of hostels by 19, up to 204 units, the number of motels dropped from 215 to 212, the number of tourist villas surged from 621 to 624, the number of tourist chalets moved up from 152 to 162, the number of tourist boarding houses fell from 1,335 to 1,323, the number of agri-tourist boarding houses ticked up from 1,598 to 1,665, and the number of bungalows declined from 249 to 242.
The number of tourist accommodation places in Romania stood at 311,300 on July 31, 2014. The largest capacity was in hotels, i.e. 186,200 people, the agri-tourist boarding houses came next - 30,500 holidaymakers, tourist villas - 13,800 tourists, and camping - 12,900 people.
By the functioning manner of the tourist accommodation units, 75.7 percent of rooms were in permanent tourist accommodation facilities. The rooms with bath or shower stood for 95.7 percent of all rooms (except for rooms in little chalets). 69.8 percent of rooms in the camps of students had no bath or shower.
