Agriculture: Positive balance sheet of foodstuff: exports grew by 300 million euro

The commercial balance sheet with foodstuff is positive after 7 months, with exports growing by 300 million euro and imports dropping by 50 million euro, said Daniel Dumitru Botanoiu, secretary of state in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on Thursday.

 

Daniel Constantin, the minister of agriculture declared early this month that Romania has chances to end 2014 with an excess balance of trade for foodstuff, the second year in a row. In the first 6 months we continued to be champions for corn exports. We exported foodstuff 200 million euro more than in the same period of 2013. This year’s yield will be at least as good as the one of 2013,” Constantin said.

According to data supplied by MADR, Romania exported foodstuff of 2.03 billion euro in the first semester of the year, on the eise by 10% (180.9 million euro) compared to 2013, amounting to 2.32 billion euro, which is 1.1% more than in the first semester of 2013.

 

MADR secretary of state Daniel Botanoiu participated on Thursday in the conference “Family farm feeds people while protecting the planet”, organized by MADR and Bucharest University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine.
