Tourism: MP Orban: Government looks for solutions to keep HORECA going
Premier Ludovic Orban declared that the government continues to look for solutions to keep HORECA sector going and asked representatives of the field to try to ensure that rules of sanitary protection are observed in hotels and restaurants they own.
“We tried to think about certain forms of support, canceling specific taxes, technical unemployment, 41.5% for resuming activities, flexible work program in force since September 1, kurzarbeit, for the first time applied in Romania, which has to be studied to see how it functions. We adopted laws allowing local authorities to reduce taxes on buildings up to 50% and even to cancel the tax on buildings or tax on occupying public domain,”Orban declared on Thursday, at the National Conference of Hospitality Industry.
He added that, on the other hand, it is obvious that HORECA field continues to be affected. “People avoid going to restaurants or on trips. These are effects we cannot control and incomes are clearly reduced. We continue to be in dialogue, we are looking for solutions to keep in activity this important field with development potential in Romania. We have considered the grant program for sectors affected by Covid, we are trying to find support solutions, a voucher system for the tourist area. There are things we thought about and we continue to maintain the dialogue with your representatives”, Orban said.
The premier asked HORECA representatives from hotels and restaurants to impose that rules of health protection be observed.
