Tourism : Cruise ships start season in Danube Delta
The Danube Star cruiser opened tourism season in the Danube Delta (southeast), on Wednesday, with 77 Romanian passengers aboard, informed the master's office of the Tulcea Danube Delta harbour.
The cruise boat belonging to the river navigation master's office (CNF) of Giurgiu harbour (located on the Romanian Danube River bank) anchored in Tulcea, Wednesday morning, and tourists were sailed either through the Danube Delta's channels or down town said spokesman of Tulcea harbour's master's office Petrica Rade.
Almost 100 Japanese holidaymakers arrived in Romania by a sea cruiser, last week, and visited the Danube Delta by ours cruise boats, Europolis Company's chairman told Agerpres. Tulcea County expect about 200 river cruise ships, and Europolis Company's vessels will supply services to the tourists on 181 of them.
The first cruise ships sailed to the Danube Delta over 2000-2001, and the cruise tourism really boosted in 2004. Most (177) cruise ships sailed to the Danube Delta, in 2007, and their number increased to 136, in the following year, and reached 150, in 2009.
