Tourism : County of Brasov, first in the Centre Region as regards the number of tourists în H1 of 2017
The County of Brasov ranks first in the Centre Region as regards the number of tourists who have visited the county in this year's first half, up against the similar period of 2016.
Brasov County overall recorded 550,727 tourists in H1 2017, of whom 82,627 foreign tourists, as compared to 394,694 tourists in the same period of 2016, of whom 68,291 foreigners, a release sent on Monday by the Brasov County Statistics Directorate (DJSB) informs.
Brasov County accounts for 40.3 percent of the total tourists who traveled to the region, followed by Sibiu County with 21.6 percent, Mures County with 19.8 percent, Harghita County with 7.4 percent, Alba County with 6.8 percent and Covasna County with 4.0 percent.
The number of arrivals recorded in the tourist accommodation facilities in the Centre Region was up by 12.7 percent, and the number of overnight stays recorded in the same Centre Region was up by 11.6 percent, as compared to the same period of 2016.
The main countries of origin of the foreign tourists in the analysed region are Germany - 11,096 (against 10,050 in H1 2016), Israel - 9,219 (as compared to 6,708 in H1 2016) and Poland - 5,689 (against 3,206 in H1 2016), followed by the UK, Spain, the Republic of Moldova, Italy, the US, France and Bulgaria.
In the Centre Region, the County of Brasov ranks first both by arrivals and overnight stays (by 45.7 percent and 45.8 percent, respectively of total arrivals, and overnight stays, respectively).
At national level, Brasov County comes second after Bucharest as regards both arrivals and overnight stays, with a weight of 10.2 percent and 10.3 percent, respectively, of the total, the source informs.
