Telecom.IT: Romanians have few smart phones
The penetration degree of smart phones in Romania has reached 17%, compared to 63% at European level, said Nick Hugh, the vice president and head of Display Solutions EMEA of Yahoo, at ICEEfest, an event devoted to digital industry in Central and Eastern Europe. Yahoo has over 2 million smart phone users in Romania who allocate 13 hours a week to use company services addressed to mobile platforms, said Hugh. He added that the online industry has radically changed the way in which it reports to users. According to ANCOM data, local mobile phone operators had 25.5 million users at the end of 2012, on the drop by 2.7% compared to 2011.The number of Internet access connections by means of mobile technologies (CDMA, EDGE, EV-DO, 3G, 3G+) grew from 4.2 million in 2011 to 7.1 million at the end of 2012.
