Telecom.IT : IT market will grow by 9.1% this year to 5.4 billion lei
The IT market in Romania will grow this year by 9.1% to 5.4 billion lei, exceeding the evolution of most countries in the area, the advance being backed by economic growth and the status of regional center for IT professionals, according to Business Monitor International (BMI).
Salary increase will support the development of retail for hardware components, while the modernization of telecommunication infrastructure will accelerate the process of making Romania an important market for outsourcing and cloud computing, the quarterly report made by the market research company shows.However, economic and political instability in the area might affect negatively market evolution, according to the report.
BMI estimates that component sales will grow to 2.9 billion lei this year, from 2.8 billion lei in 2013, backed by the boost of PC and notebook market as well as by a significant increase of tablet sales.
The software market will grow to 1.2 billion lei compared to sales of 1.1 billion lei in 2013.
The increase rate continues to be affected by the high number of pirating. However, expenses with software solutions are estimated to grow on the background of new versions of existing operation systems following the Microsoft decision to withdraw support for Windows XP in April, the BMI report shows.
