Telecom.IT: GfK Romania: Internet with 53% national coverage in April

The Internet reached a national coverage of 53% in April 2013 at urban level, 63% among people over the age of 15, according to the FutureBuy study made by GfK Romania. According to the study made on a representative sample for the urban population using the Internet, aged between 15 and 45, 70% of the people interviewed declare that the Internet has become a very useful shopping instrument, while 44% say social networks have become as important as any information sources for the best choice of products.

While smart phones are now used mainly to compare prices (44% of owners who got online information or made online purchases in the last 6 months) to look for information (42%) and to find stores (42%), other kinds of behaviors have appeared: checking product availability (31%) or QR code scanning (22%).Last year the share of smart phones reached 25% of sales, while the number of tablets sold grew about 5 times compared to 2011.

The GfK FutureBuy study integrates all these data and offers more details about the influence of technology on purchase behavior, online versus offline purchase experience or about the new type of informed and involved buyer.

The study was made online, on a sample of 600 respondents in the AskGfK panel.

Present in the local market since 1992, GfK Romania has been for 12 years the number one market study institute, with a business figure of 11 million euro in 2011. GfK Romania activities are structured on two sectors- Consumer Experiences and Consumer Choices.
