Telecom .IT: CSAT approves Cyber Security Strategy
The members of the Supreme Council of National Defence (CSAT) approved on Tuesday the Cyber Security Strategy, says the Presidential Administration.'CSAT approved in this strategy to implement some security measures leading to a higher level of protection of cyber infrastructures in accordance with the new concepts and policies in the field of elaborate cyber defence adopted by the NATO and the EU,' reads the release.
According to the presidency, Minister of Informational Society Dan Nica participated in CSAT meeting held on Tuesday and led by President Traian Basescu.
In late January, MAE used to reply to Agerpres' inquiry that the cyber attack 'Red October' by which the perpetrator aims to get data on the state policy, was currently being investigated by all institutions with competence in the matter.
'Considering that fight against cyber attacks is highly dynamic and changes from day to day, MAE takes measures each day with the help of the institutions with competence in this area, to reduce risks of security against the ministry and the diplomatic missions,' the diplomatic institution used to say.
The Romanian Intelligence Service told the institutions targeted by a cyber attack through a Trojan virus right as it was ongoing, saying that 'they took countermeasures together to reestablish normal operation of those networks.'
According to SRI, the impact of the cyber attack called 'Red October' is given by the fact that the attacker 'aims to take out data/documents on the state policy and decisions made at institutions, and by the fact that by taking passwords and authentication codes, one can get access to other systems.'
